The 2023 World Baseball Classic Qualifier in Regensburg was one of the most significant international broadcast productions delivered by PLAYO Production.
Six national teams — Czech Republic, Germany, Great Britain, Spain, France and South Africa — competed at the Armin-Wolf-Arena for two places in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, one of the world’s premier international baseball competitions.
PLAYO Production was selected to provide the complete live broadcast production for the Regensburg qualifier. Over six days, our team delivered multi-camera coverage of the tournament, including live directing, instant replay, graphics, audio production and the final international programme feed.
The scope of the project went beyond the on-site television production. PLAYO Production also provided the SNG uplink and satellite capacity for international distribution, delivering the broadcast signal to television partners and audiences around the world.
All games from the qualifier were distributed internationally through World Baseball Classic and MLB platforms, including MLB.TV, WorldBaseballClassic.com and the official World Baseball Classic digital channels, with additional television distribution through broadcasters in multiple territories.
The production required a complete broadcast infrastructure capable of meeting the technical and operational requirements of a major international baseball event, from cameras and production systems at the venue through to the final transmission and worldwide distribution of the programme signal.
For PLAYO Production, the World Baseball Classic Qualifier represented one of our largest and most important international projects to date and demonstrated our ability to deliver complete broadcast production and transmission services for a globally distributed sporting event.
