The WBSC Men’s Softball World Championship 2019 brought 16 of the world’s leading national teams to the Czech Republic for eleven days of international competition. It was the first Men’s Softball World Championship ever staged in Europe and one of the largest softball events ever held in the country.
PLAYO Production was responsible for the live broadcast production from both championship venues — Svoboda Park in Prague and Hippos Arena in Havlíčkův Brod, located approximately 120 kilometres apart.
To cover both venues simultaneously, we deployed two independent production systems and crews. Each field was equipped with a seven-camera setup, providing comprehensive coverage of the tournament throughout the group stage and the decisive playoff games.
Our team provided the complete on-site broadcast workflow, including live directing, instant replay, graphics, audio production and delivery of the final programme feeds.
The games were streamed internationally through the official WBSC digital channels, while selected matches were also broadcast live by Czech Television.
Operating two full seven-camera productions simultaneously for an eleven-day World Championship represented one of our largest softball projects at the time and further strengthened PLAYO Production’s long-term cooperation with the World Baseball Softball Confederation.
