The 2020 season was unlike any other. With most major international baseball and softball tournaments cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, domestic competitions became an important part of keeping live sport on air.
Throughout the summer, PLAYO Production worked with the Czech Softball Association and the Czech Baseball Association to provide live broadcast production for selected games from the Czech national leagues. A number of these broadcasts were also carried by Czech Television.
Our crews travelled between several of the country’s established baseball and softball venues, including Svoboda Park and Eagles Park in Prague, Hippos Arena in Havlíčkův Brod, Arrows Park in Ostrava and the City Baseball Stadium in Brno.
Each production required our team to adapt the broadcast setup to a different venue while maintaining the same production workflow and technical standard. PLAYO Production provided multi-camera coverage, live directing, replay, graphics, audio production and delivery of the final programme feed.
Although the international tournament calendar was largely suspended, the 2020 domestic season allowed us to continue producing baseball and softball regularly throughout the Czech Republic and maintain our long-term involvement in both sports.
The season also provided valuable continuity between our major international baseball and softball projects before and after the pandemic, while strengthening our cooperation with the Czech national federations.
