From 2016 to 2021, PLAYO Production provided regular live broadcast production for Austria’s top professional handball competition, the spusu LIGA, as part of our long-term cooperation with Sportradar.
Over five years, our crews travelled throughout Austria to produce league matches from venues in Vienna, Bregenz, Linz, Hard, Ferlach, Krems, Graz and many other locations.
The cooperation developed into a regular part of our production schedule. During the 2018/19 season alone, we produced 26 league games, followed by another 25 games in 2019/20 before the season was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. After competition resumed, PLAYO Production delivered a further 20 games during the 2020/21 season.
Our productions provided complete multi-camera coverage, including live directing, instant replay, graphics, audio production and delivery of the final programme feed. The broadcasts were distributed through LAOLA1 and, for selected matches, Austrian television.
Working week after week at different arenas required a highly flexible mobile production setup. Each venue presented different camera positions, infrastructure and technical conditions, while the broadcast workflow and production standard had to remain consistent throughout the season.
Our cooperation with Sportradar also extended beyond the top division. PLAYO Production provided broadcasts from the spusu CHALLENGE, Women Handball Austria and a number of other sports competitions and individual events in Austria.
Five years of regular handball production across the country made the spusu LIGA one of our longest-running recurring sports projects and played an important role in developing PLAYO Production’s experience with mobile league production in Austria.
