The FIBA U20 Women’s European Championship 2019 brought 16 national teams to Klatovy, Czech Republic, for nine days of top-level international basketball.
PLAYO Production was selected to provide the live broadcast production for the championship, continuing our cooperation with FIBA, which began in 2016.
The tournament was played simultaneously at two venues in Klatovy. We deployed two independent production setups and crews, allowing us to provide continuous live coverage from both arenas throughout the championship.
Each venue was covered by five cameras. The event also marked the first major deployment of our new Blackmagic Design URSA camera systems equipped with Fujinon broadcast lenses, representing an important technical upgrade to our production infrastructure.
Our team provided the complete broadcast workflow, including live directing, instant replay, graphics, audio production and delivery of the final programme feeds.
For score, game clock and statistical data, our graphics system was integrated directly with the official FIBA scoring infrastructure, allowing live match data to be incorporated into the on-screen graphics.
Over the course of the tournament, all games from both venues were produced and made available for online distribution. The championship concluded with Italy defeating Russia 70–67 in the final to claim the European title.
The project was another major milestone in our long-term cooperation with FIBA and further strengthened our experience with simultaneous multi-venue basketball production.
