The 2019 European Baseball Championship brought together 12 national teams for nine days of competition in Bonn and Solingen, Germany. In addition to the European title, the tournament also played an important role in qualification for the Europe-Africa Olympic Qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
PLAYO Production was responsible for the live broadcast production from the Bonn venue, covering 26 games throughout the championship.
With games taking place on two fields, our team operated two production setups in parallel. The main field was covered by seven cameras, while a three-camera setup was used for the second field, allowing simultaneous live production throughout the tournament schedule.
For the main field, the primary wide camera was positioned on a mobile elevating work platform, providing a high-angle overview of the entire baseball field and creating a strong visual perspective for the broadcast.
Our production included live directing, instant replay, graphics, audio production and delivery of the final programme feeds for online distribution.
The championship concluded with the final between the Netherlands and Italy, with the Netherlands retaining the European title. For PLAYO Production, the event represented another major international baseball project and further expanded our experience with simultaneous multi-field broadcast production.
